Veterans Day gives Americans the opportunity to celebrate the courage and sacrifice made by our Veterans. The day is set aside to thank the brave men and women who served honorably in the military during times of war and peace.

Veterans Day (originally called Armistice Day) was born in 1918 on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, when an armistice was signed between the allies of World War I and Germany at Compiegne, France. At that time, all service men and women were asked to “cease fire” so leaders could explore options for creating a peaceful resolution to the war. (That’s why Veterans Day is always November 11th.)

If possible, at 11:00 AM this morning, take a moment to think about a Veteran you know and write them a note or give them a call to express your gratitude for their service to the United States of America.

With all the negative news being shared on T.V., in print and online, it’s easy to forget the positive aspects of our country. I’m not suggesting we don’t have problems, but America is still beautiful, free and home of the brave. Someone you know would like to hear you’re thanking them for serving our country and protecting our freedoms.
